Do you know how to make money online with paid surveys? What are paid surveys? Are all paid surveys scams? How much money can you make with paid surveys? Read on for all the answers.

Paid surveys are used by research companies to collect public opinion and product reviews on behalf of major companies.

The cash payments, rewards and sweepstakes are used to entice people to complete the surveys. The survey results influence the development of products and services from these companies.

Are all online paid surveys scams?

I'm sure this is a question you might have asked yourself if you've looked into getting paid to take surveys.

I did a lot of research on this topic. And here's the conclusion I came to...

PAID SURVEYS SCAM ALERT!

Firstly, a warning: there are paid online survey scams out there. By scams I mean websites that sell nothing more than a list of links to free-to-join paid survey websites.

All legitimate paid survey websites are free to join. So if you ever find a paid survey website that requires money to join, run the other way! :-)

You don't have to pay a penny for such a list. Free lists of paid surveys already exist on other websites. But I found them to be rather confusing, not easy-to-follow, and full of factual errors such as incorrect minimum ages.

I'm going to give you a list of easy-to-follow, curated paid survey websites for free.

Conclusions

I was astounded to find so many legitimate paid surveys online that are free to join. They're not all scams out there.

I've listed over 180 paid surveys on this site. I rejected dozens more. I'm sure there're many more I've yet to come across.

The work is easy. Most paid surveys simply ask you multiple choice questions about your opinion on something.

However the pay is low. So I suggest you use paid surveys to convert those times during the day when you have a spare 15 to 20 minutes into something more rewarding.

A dollar here, three bucks there might not sound like much. But do enough surveys and they could add up to a treat for the kids, a nice evening out, weekend away, or even a vacation.

If you have any opinions or experiences with paid surveys, please post your comments at the bottom of this page.

5 types of paid survey payments

Paid surveys can offer one or a combination of these five payment types.

  1. Cash: cash is best but paid surveys typically only pay between $0.50 to $3.00 for a completed survey, which might take 15-20 minutes.

Cash payments are typically paid via PayPal, sometimes by check or direct deposit. If you don't know what PayPal is or don't have a PayPal account, visit PayPal.com for more information.

If you intend to make money online, I suggest you open a PayPal account because many online companies only pay you via PayPal.

  2. Points converted into cash: Many paid survey websites offer points which can be converted into cash and withdrawn in the following manner:
    • Cash deposited into a PayPal account (most common).
    • Cash deposited electronically into a bank account.
    • Checks mailed out to you.
  3. Points converted into rewards: many paid survey sites offer points which can be converted into rewards, such as DVDs, electronic goods and toys. Some can be converted into gift cards which is almost as good as cash.
  4. Sweepstakes/prize draws: many paid surveys offer sweepstakes or prize draws in addition to cash and rewards. This gives you a chance of winning a bigger prize than the cash and points paid per survey.

Some paid surveys only offer a sweepstake because they think people would rather have a chance of winning a more meaningful prize than earn a few bucks. Please be aware of this because for those paid surveys you won't get anything for your efforts unless you win a prize.

Please note that "sweepstakes" and "prize draws" are the same thing as far as I'm concerned. The term sweepstakes is typically used in the United States and Canada, whereas prize draws is more commonly used outside of North America.

  5. Products: Some paid surveys give you products to try and then complete a survey on. Naturally you get to keep the products as payment.

Top 3 paid survey tips

Based on what I've read and seen, here are my top three tips on how to make money with paid surveys.

  1. Sign up with as many legitimate paid survey companies as possible: most paid surveys pay very little: $0.50 to $3.00 for 15 to 20 minutes of your time isn't much.

Some paid surveys only offer a sweepstake or prize draw but with so many people your odds of winning aren't much either.

And most paid survey companies typically restrict people to 1-2 surveys a month, some more, some less. This means you're likely to earn somewhere in the region of $10-50 a year per company.

So I suggest you sign up with as many legitimate paid survey companies as possible. Don't even worry about whether the paid surveys pay cash, rewards or offers sweepstakes.

The fact is the more online paid survey companies you sign up with, the more paid surveys you'll likely be offered. Hence, the more money you'll likely to earn, and the more chances you'll have of winning sweepstakes and prize draws.

  2. Convert idle time into cash: if you think you don't have time for paid surveys, think again.

Here are some periods during the day that you could convert into cash and rewards taking paid surveys.

    • During lunch and coffee breaks.
    • If you get a lift to and from work.
    • While you're doing a #2 on the toilet. Haha! :-)
    • While you're having your breakfast, lunch or dinner.
    • While you're traveling on a bus, train or taxi.
    • While you're waiting at the airport.
    • While you're waiting for a bus, train or taxi.
    • While you're waiting for food to cook.
    • While you're waiting for a movie to start.
    • While you're waiting for your kids to finish school.
    • While you're waiting for your lift.
    • While you're waiting in the doctor's or dentist's waiting room.
    • While you're watching TV.
    • While your baby is having a nap.
    • While you're waiting for the paint to dry. Haha! :-)
    • While you're waiting for the next lesson from Michael Wong Academy. :-)

You'd obviously need access to a laptop, iPad/tablet or mobile phone to access the surveys in many of these situations.

  3. Get your kids to do paid surveys for pocket money: Did you know that there are many paid survey websites that accept teenagers 13 and over? And even a few that accept kids 6 and over.

So if your kids don't have enough pocket money to buy toys or the latest fashion, get them to do some paid surveys. ;-)

Are you surprised just how much time there is in the day that you could turn into something more worthwhile?

If you have any other suggestions, please post them at the bottom of this page.
