How do I make money with Convergys?

As a Convergys Home Agent you'll be receiving incoming and occasionally outbound calls from customers of major companies.

The types of calls vary and may include sales, customer service with upselling, troubleshooting, or technical support.

Don't like telemarketing? Don't worry, Convergys agents don't do outbound telemarketing calls. Phew! :-)

You may work full-time or part-time ranging from 16 to 40 hours per week.

Convergys agents have reportedly the following earnings in Glassdoor.com:

Convergys also offer its Home Agents generous benefits, including:

Not bad huh? You don't get any of those as an independent contractor. :-)

Convergys user comments

It's hard to tell whether an online job or business opportunity is any good. So I've scoured the internet searching for the most relevant comments by people who've worked for Convergys.

+ = positive comment / - = negative comment

+Not to discourage anyone as Convergys is a GREAT company with benefits (which are VERY important these days), and they pay on time...I just want to inform anyone who believes their shift will remain the same, that it MAY change, and that there are some sales involved. But being an actual employee instead of an Independent Contractor is a plus (IMHO). - AllieWhitt, Jul-16-2011
+I am currently a home agent and actually find the rules a lot more relaxed than in center. The starting pay at Convergys is $9.00...Recent changes have also lowered the pay increase time frame to approximately every 520 hours worked (which equates to about 13 weeks, based on 40 hours worked per week). They also have tuition reimbursement starting from day one, which is something I am currently taking full advantage of...Is Convergys the best place I have ever worked? Absolutely not. But it is not that bad.....IMO - Intrepid, Aug-20-2007

Is Convergys a scam?

Here's a summary of what's good and not so good about Convergys.

What's good about Convergys

+77,000+ employees: it's reassuring to know that Convergys has over 77,000 employees.
+Publicly traded company: it's reassuring to know that Convergys is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.
+$2.2 billion+ in revenue: it's reassuring to know that Convergys had revenues of over $2.2 billion in 2011.
+Respectable pay: it's reassuring to know that some Convergys agents have earned between $9 and $20 an hour which is pretty good in this industry.
+Generous employee benefits: it's good to see that Convergys offers all its Home Agents generous employee benefits, including health, medical and life insurance, paid time off and holidays, 401(k), and employee stock purchase options.
+Free training: it's good to see that Convergys provide all training for free.

What's not so good about Convergys

-Many complaints by call center agents: I discovered many complaints by former agents who worked at Convergys call centers. However, I didn't find any complaints from Home Agents. So don't tie the two together and come to any conclusions. I just wanted to point that out as a possible negative.
-32 U.S. states: it's disappointing to see that Convergys is only available in 32 U.S. states, and not across the entire country.

A publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange with 2011 revenues of over $2.2 billion employs and over 77,000 employees represents a pretty solid company.

I think you'll agree that Convergys is as legit a company as you'll likely to find. It is legitimate and definitely isn't a scam.

I particularly like the fact that Convergys provide all training for free and offers generous employee benefits.

Overall based on what I've seen and read, I think you should definitely consider Convergys if you want to work from home as an employee virtual call center agent.
