How do I make money with Zaarly?

Zaarly is a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of goods and services with people around them. Only buyers can post. When a buyer makes a request, people in their community who have what they are looking for can provide it.

Common tasks and errands include grocery delivery, house chores, computer help, office help, handyman, moving help, etc.

But Zaarly goes beyond just being a marketplace for tasks and errands. With Zaarly people can request just about anything - within the law that is. :-)

Here are some examples:

The interesting thing about Zaarly is that virtually everything is free. The account is free, the leads are free, free to place offers, free to get jobs, and free to post to buy on the site.

The only thing that costs money is if the buyer chooses to use Zaarly to accept credit card payments. You can pay with cash. Zaarly charges 10% of the transaction to cover credit card and bank fees. The money shows up in your bank or Paypal account within 48 hours of the buyer's payment.

It's hard to tell whether an online job or business opportunity is any good. So I've scoured the internet searching for the most relevant comments by people who've used Zaarly.

+Today I logged in and asked if someone could go buy my wife a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks and deliver it to her at work. Within half an hour I got a response and within an hour she had coffee in her hands...I just typed a few words into a computer and my wife got coffee. That's kinda cool. - Enderw24, Kansas City, MO, Nov-03-2011
-I liked the concept of Zaarly and even tried to use it couple of times (and got a response once), I believe it is limiting in the way that it only allows you to tell what you need. It does not allow you to sell. May be that is their unique prop as compared to other sites. But it almost stops you from using it. - Gaurav Harode, Quora, Nov-28-2011

Is Zaarly a scam?

Here's a summary of what's good and not so good about Zaarly.

What's good about Zaarly

+100,000+ users: it's impressive that Zaarly has already attracted over 100,000 users in such a short time.
+30+ employees: it's reassuring to know Zaarly has a team of over 35 professionals supporting the company.
+$7M+ in revenue: it's impressive that Zaarly has already processed over $7 million 100,000 users in such a short time.
+$15.1M in funding: it's reassuring to know that Zaarly has raised $15.1 million over two rounds of funding.
+Meg Whitman: its impressive to see that Meg Whitman, the CEO of Hewlett-Packard and former CEO of eBay, is on the board of directors.

What's not so good about Zaarly

-No insurance protection: it would be nice if Zaarly organized insurance to protect its workers and customers in cases when things go wrong.
-Low pay: some people may not like the low pay being offered but it's up to you whether or not it's good enough for you.
-No background checks or verifications: all transactions are between the parties involved and Zaarly only serves as the platform to connect buyers and sellers so you have to be extra vigilant about who you do business with.

Zaarly has $15.1 million in funding, generated over $7 million in revenue, has Ashton Kutcher amongst its investors, and Meg Whitman, the CEO of Hewlett-Packard and former CEO of eBay, is on its board of directors. Zaarly is legitimate and definitely not a scam.

Zaarly is helping thousands of under-employed and unemployed people make some extra money doing tasks, running errands, and selling stuff they no longer need.

I like the fact that virtually everything is free. The only thing that costs money is if the buyer chooses to use Zaarly to accept credit card payments.

A number of drawbacks include no insurance protection for workers or customers, low pay, and no background checks or verifications.

According to the website it doesn't currently have a rating system which is not good. They're supposed to be working on it so hopefully it'll be added to the system soon.

Overall based on what I've seen and read, Zaarly looks like a promising service backed a growing team of professionals and plenty of funding. It even has a couple of well known celebrities on board which certainly adds credibility.
